NTTF, located close to Bonn, Germany, is specialised in plasma coatings for medical devices and other high-tech coatings. The cardient® superhart coating is produced in a PECVD process.

Cardient® superhart has been especially developed for applications where funcionality is lost after even small amount of wear.

The coating is made up of armorphous carbon with a close diamond-like structure and density. Like all carbon based coatings the surface is highly bio-compatible and is therefore suitable for medical applications.

Application areas include medical cutting tools such as scalpels, trephine as well as micro structured surfaces.

Materials that can be coated are metals, ceramics and special plastics as well as temperature sensitive materials such as hardened steel.
